Frequently asked questions.

Is this a school project or a community project?

It’s both! As teachers we dream big for our students and we believe in the valuable experiences created by connecting our rangatahi to the community they live in. Its a beautiful fusion of two. We mostly involve our juniors Yr 9’s and 10’s, but we do have seniors who have used this as an opportunity to dive in deeper and gain NCEA credits from this.

Where is your project based?

We are Pukekohe High School and in the Franklin community, the centre being Pukekohe. Are we any where else? We are not working any where else, but if you would like help starting your own project - feel free to reach out and we can help you.

How many murals are you painting?

This project has been a journey, one foot in front of the other. The plan was for 5 big murals. We’ve painted 3 and we have two more to go! If we can find a little bit of funding for and artist, paint and equipment our next mural will be here summer 2024.

Is this a not-for-profit project?

It certainly is. We pay our artist for their time, we pay for materials, equipment and make sure our students are fed. All funding goes toward the project.
